Figure skating is where the skaters of the USSR and, later, Russia have achieved more success. Due to the climatic conditions, skating is practiced in almost all the country, which helps to train good athletes.
Synchronized swimming
The hegemony of the Russian women in synchronized swimming worldwide started in 1998 with the victory in the world championship of that year in the three modalities. Since the year 2000 the Russian team is triumphing in all the Olympic Games and world championships
Biathlon
In Russia, as in other countries of northern Europe, the biathlon has military origin. In 1933 the first championship of the Soviet Union was organized. The Red Army athletes, in uniform, covered thirty kilometers in skiing and fired at the goal.
Professional Fight
The first fighting competition in Russia took place in the 10th century. Prince Vladimiro agreed to determine the resolution of the conflict with the Pechenegs through a fight between two "bogatyr", the strongest warriors. The conflict ended with the victory of the Russian.
Rhythmic Gymastics
Rhythmic gymnastics is a very "Russian" sport. Most of the winners of all international competitions were Russian citizens. It should not be a surprised since the ribbon, the hoop, the maze and the rope have Russian origins.
